Hooray! Yay! Yippee! Woohoo! Why do people say these words? These are words you might say to celebrate something good. The Bible uses a special, very old word to celebrate something very good. “Hosanna!” Long ago, this word meant, “Please save me now!” Eventually, it became a way of celebrating the person who came to save us from the terrible problem of sin. Today we use “Hosanna” to mean “Hooray! Jesus came to save us!” That’s the Big Idea of this Palm Sunday Bible lesson. As you lead the play-based lesson, children will be instructed to listen closely and shout this gospel truth over and over. You can even use the printable palm branches in the leader’s guide to print and wave palm branches as you shout “Hosanna!” together to the King of kings.
